I grew up in rural Northeastern Pennsylvania. I started college at The New England School of Art and Design in Boston, then transferred to Tyler School of Art in Elkins Park, PA, then transferred to the University of Montana in Missoula. I finally graduated in 2000 with a BA in Anthropology. I spent the next four years in the army, learning Arabic and working in Germany and Baghdad. When I’d had quite enough of that, I moved to Alaska and got my MFA in creative writing, poetry, from the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. I’m now an instructional designer for UAF eCampus and Distance Education. I love popular culture, specifically science fiction and comics, and I spend a lot of time finding ways to incorporate pop culture into education – especially comics. I curate my findings here.
